Gordon B. Logan, CEO & Founder
Prior to opening the prototype Sport Clips in 1993, Gordon owned and operated salons throughout Texas. He was on the Board of the International SalonSpa Business Network (ISBN, the trade association for chains and franchises representing over 20,000 salons) from 2000 to 2012, and served as its President from 2008 to 2012. He continues to direct the Government Relations activities of the association. Since 2011, he has served on the VFW Foundation Board, which directs the charitable efforts of the VFW for active duty service men and women, as well as veterans.
He was elected to the Board of the International Franchise Association (IFA) in 2013, and serves as Chairman of the IFA VetFran Committee and the VetFran Mentor Program for veterans. He also served on the Board of Visitors for Southwestern University from 2010 to 2013.
Prior to becoming a salon owner in 1980, Logan served as an Aircraft Commander in the U.S. Air Force (1969-1976), after which he worked as a financial planning and control consultant with Price Waterhouse & Co. in Houston, Texas (1976-1980). He is a graduate of MIT (BS, '68), and The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania (MBA with Honors, '76). He is also a retired CPA in the state of Texas.
Mark Kartarik, President & Board Member
Mark joined Sport Clips as President in August 2014 after a long, established career as a top executive with Minneapolis-based Regis Corporation. For more than 20 years, he saw Regis through its major global expansion, and he most recently served as Executive Vice President and President of Regis’ Franchise Division.
Mark previously served as President of Regis’ Franchise Division for the Supercuts, Cost Cutters, ProCuts, First Choice Haircutter, Magicuts, City Looks, and We Care Hair brands. In 1999, Kartarik was named President and COO of Regis’ Supercuts, Inc., overseeing the operations of 800 franchises and 500 corporate stores after eight years in operations leadership.
Gordon E. Logan, Vice president of Operations
Gordon Edward is responsible for directing the efforts of Business Directors, supporting franchised Sport Clips stores, and for the operation of our 32 company-owned Sport Clips in Austin and Las Vegas. He has been responsible for testing and proving all new programs (such as the recently implemented enhanced Grand Opening Program), procedures, and equipment for the Company prior to their introduction to the system as a whole.He has assumed increasing levels of responsibility since beginning full-time employment with Sport Clips in January 2010, working with the company stores to learn the business from the ground up. From July 2008 to December 2009 he served as a consultant with Deloitte LLP.
Canadian Master Franchisors:
Peter Kowal, President and Chief Operating Officer
As one of the most experienced franchise consultants and architects in the industry, Peter Kowal was a natural choice for President of Sport Clips’ Canadian expansion. After working with Sport Clips for over a year as a consultant, Gordon recognized his powerful insight and offered him the opportunity to become Sport Clips Canada’s first Master Franchisor. A Canadian citizen, he is excited to continue building the success of Canada’s entrepreneurs and hair care business owners throughout every province.
Peter has been working in franchising in various high-level capacities since 1991. He has provided his expertise and insight to companies such as Cruise Holidays International, ByeByeNOW.com, and later Carlson Companies. He eventually founded and led a new multi-million dollar division, within World Travel Partners.
In 2004, Peter founded his own company devoted to helping franchise start ups establish themselves and develop into strong national businesses. He has worked with more than 40 different franchise companies, ranging in size from start ups to 900+ franchised location operations. His expertise has helped franchises achieve success in a wide variety of industries, including food, fitness, decorating, service, and hair care.
Mark Schiffnerr, Chief Executive Officer
Mark is Sport Clips Canada’s first Master Franchisor, responsible for establishing and building the ongoing success of our Canadian business owners. He possesses extensive knowledge of Canadian markets, as well as powerful experience in helping dominate those markets in a variety of franchise business opportunities (including Panago Pizza).
Mark’s previous experience in franchise development goes back to 1989, spanning more than 30 years of achieving success for franchisors and franchisees. From 1984 to 2001, he helped expand Cruise Holidays to 52 locations, bringing in more than $65 million in annual gross sales. From there, he became Director of Franchise Development for Carlson Travel Franchise Group, creating a new brand for them known as SeaMaster Cruises in 2004. In 2009, he became Chief Operating Officer for Cruise Holidays International, based in Minneapolis, MN. Thanks to his efforts, the company has locations in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
